There’s no question that Manny Pacquiao has already accomplished more than enough as a prizefighter.
That’s why his wife, Jinkee, wants to convince the 8-division world champion to seriously contemplate retirement.
“Sometimes we talk about retiring because boxing is a tough job for the both of us,” Jinkee said in an episode of a special TV series produced by Showtime promoting Pacquiao’s fight with Adrien Broner on January 19.
“If he wins, maybe (this) year one fight and then that’s it. I pray for that.”
Pacquiao is set to defend his world welterweight crown against Broner next weekend. If he wins convincingly, he is expected to pursue a second bout against Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Pacquiao acknowledged that he doesn’t see himself retiring soon.
“When that time comes, I will know that,” he said. “But right now, I listen to my body, not to my mind. And also, I’m enjoying it. I don’t feel like 40 years old.”
