MANILA, Philippines—Some 153 players hope to take one step towards their PBA dreams by joining the 2019 PBA D-League Draft, set for Tuesday at the league office.
University of the Philippines playmaker Juan Gomez de Liano and Adamson forward Sean Manganti headline the rookie hopefuls for the competition that aims to develop rising young stars.
Other guards who have joined the draft include: Kib Montalbo (La Salle), Anton Asistio (Ateneo), Jasper Parker (Far Eastern University), AC Soberano (San Beda), Ian Alban (Arellano), Jed Mendoza (Jose Rizal University), and Orlan Wamar (Centro Escolar University).
ASEAN Basketball League veteran Joshua Munzon, San Beda’s Clint Doliguez, and CESAFI MVP Rey Suerte of University of the Visayas are the other potential draftees in the forward positions.
La Salle’s Santi Santillan leads the bigs, along with Mapua’s Warren Bonifacio and National University’s Troy Rike.
A total of 20 teams will line up to secure these rookies’ rights, with last season’s cellar-dweller, AMA Online Education, making the first pick.
The 2019 PBA D-League season begins on February 14 at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
