Marcio Lassiter is letting bygones be bygones between him and new San Miguel Beer teammate Terrence Romeo.
Seven months ago, the two nearly came to blows in the heat of a game between San Miguel and TNT.
For Lassiter, that’s all in the distant past now.
“For me, once you’re my teammate, I don’t know what happened in the past. I welcoming you as a brother, a family in our eyes,” said Lassiter.
“The ultimate goal is to win a championship and to win a championship we have to be together as one. He’s been a brother for us, he’s in our team, he’s considered family now.”
The Beermen got Romeo in a deal with TNT in exchange for auxiliary players David Semerad and Brian Heruela and a 2021 first-round draft pick.
Lassiter said he actually respects the former 3-time league scoring leader
“He’s a great talent, and at the same time we’d like to integrate his talent into our system. If we could do that, we’re getting more firepower in our team and it’s going to be good,” he said.
Lassiter acknowledged the team has yet to see Romeo mesh into the system, but he is confident that Romeo will get used to their style of play.
“We gotta jell some more, we got a tuneup game on Saturday, so by Friday (their first PBA game) we should be ready to go,” he said.
